Have you ever accepted a task or job that was clearly more than you could handle? This has happened to all of us at one time or another and it can put you into a roller coaster of emotions; though you may reach the desired outcome it comes at the price of time and energy. Now take this scenario and multiply it many times over a long span of time and eventually you will be met with the big ugly “Burnout.”
Burnout In America
The average American works 1757 hours per year. Which makes it one of the higher ranking countries in regard to yearly working statistics. The thing is, the pay the average American receives does not properly compensate for the amount of work they do. This can lead to increased stress and other mental and physical health issues, causing burnout.
How to Curve Burnout
One of the best ways to help curve burnout is physical activity. Physical activity can help reduce stress hormones in the body, improve self image issues, and more. This is key when dealing with burnout cause at its core, burnout is a form of heightened stress. Practicing productive mental health techniques can help as well.
One extremely helpful method of curving burnout (the one I rely on most) is making yourself put work aside when stressed and focusing on hobbies and spending time with family and friends. Setting aside time for yourself to do the things you enjoy is key in curving burnout, and in recovering from it when it happens.
