The rule of 80%

This is not a blog post to scare away anyone looking to pick up a license in fact I want to see the industry change into an even more respected and educated demographic because it will positively impact both Agents and clients alike. (I.e. watching an episode of anything on HGTV does not make you a real estate expert)

In the current age of Real Estate, the industry is often deceptively portrayed as a get-rich-quick job field without needing to get a college degree. On average, I talk to someone every single week who has wanted to pick up a license or has held one before, the overlooked reality that exists is that roughly 80% of newly licensed agents will not make It past 5 years. That being said, based on statistics it is literally more difficult to be a successful agent than it is becoming a Navy Seal.

I have seen time and time again where people think that joining the industry is an uncontested route of success because the economy had previously dipped to a historical low in reference to the feds prime rate policy. In that short 24 months (2020-2022) Texas alone had gained roughly 40k newly licensed agents and in a 5 yr spread we should only expect to see 8k of them still hold an active license in 2025-26.

All of that being said, I am excited to take part in actively training the agents within our brokerage because it is laying the foundation for more educated, informed and successful agents. Having joined during a time of great uncertainty and still being able to produce regardless the odds has given myself and my more tenured colleges invaluable insight on the areas that we can grow and revolutionize the industry.

What amount of challenge are you looking for?
